The live lessons take place in the afternoon, from 4.30 to 6PM Italy time, on Mondays and Thursdays. The live lessons will start on Thursday 6 March 2025 and continue for 6 weeks.
The course takes place on Zoom. Once you purchase your access on this platform, you will find the Zoom links directly in the course.
Absolutely yes. The day after each live lesson, you will find the video recording directly in your course, complete with English subtitles that you can decide to activate to help you follow along more easily.
You will also find all the lesson slides for all the lessons 1-12 available in the course straightaway, so you can start revising even before the live lessons.
In the 12 lessons, you will study a wide variety of topics. These were chosen based on our analysis of hundreds of domande disciplinari, as well as common literature coursebooks used in Italian schools and universities:
1 From Old English to Middle English
2 The English Renaissance and The Elizabethan period
3 Shakespeare
4 The Jacobean and Restoration periods
5 The 18th century and the Augustan age
6 Romanticism and the Romantic period
7 The 19th Century: from Regency to the early Victorian age
8 The late Victorian Age
9 Modernism and the early 20th century
10 The history and literature of the USA
11 Post World War II to present day
12 Colonialism, post-colonialism and African-American voices

Unfortunately, despite sending in our application in October 2023, we have still not heard back about our application from the Ministry; therefore, carta docente payments are still not available on our courses.
We are aware that some teachers have their exams coming up soon, which is why we have decided to upload all the slides for the lessons to the course straightaway, so you can view them and start getting ready even before your
We have no immediate plans to run this course live again. We will however make the course available in a self-study form so you can revise by yourself.
You need approx. a B1-B2 level to participate in this course. Your main trainer, Emma Meade-Flynn, has worked with many Italian teachers preparing for the concorso, so she knows how to grade her language to maximise learning.
You will also have access to the slides and video recordings of the video lessons, with subtitles, so that if you miss anything, you can always catch up in your own time the following day.
No, you won't be required to speak during the live lessons. If you do want an opportunity to practise your speaking, have a look at our conversation classes.
